this is kinda cool, if not bulky-strange
by Douglas Black, April 26, 2013
We caught this today from Snapzoom and the Kickstarter feed. while there are plenty of gizmos you can hook to your smartphone to add telephoto capability of sorts, Honolulu-based inventors Daniel Fujikake and Mac Nguyen take a different approach.
Let’s say you have a very nice pair of Bosch binoculars. Their device, called the Snapzoom, allows the smartphone a way to use the binoculars as the zoom lens.
At a $60 commitment level with Kickstarter (assuming full funding is realized) you can have this nifty item. Fujikake and Nguyen are three quarters of the way toward their $55,000 target for production.
The pair clain the device can also facilitate telescopes and microscope as well. We can also see this as a great toy for use with night vision goggles and a “Droid.
